British Toilet Association: News from the BTA

Matters lavatorial could well eclipse the weather as Britain's number one obsession - and quite rightly too! We may learn to live with bad weather but we're growing increasingly impatient with the poor quality of many of our public toilets, as articles and letters in local papers all over Britain testify.

We'll be placing all press releases about the British Toilet Association campaign for better toilets for all on this website so that you can follow our progress.

Our latest press release can be read below, and you can access earlier releases from our archive.

New Director for BTA

As announced at the 2011 BTA AGM, Mike Bone will be retiring from the position of Director of BTA at the end of the current financial year, 31st March 2012 and Raymond Martin, a long standing Management Committee Member of BTA, will be his successor as BTA Director. Mike was finding it increasingly difficult to maximise the potential of BTA and Loo of The Year Awards (of which he is Managing Director) with decreasing budgets and minimal staffing. In future Mike will therefore focus his energies towards developing Loo of The Year Awards.

With effect from 1st April 2012 Mike will become Chairman of BTA and Richard Chisnell, previously BTA Chairman, will become Vice President. Sir William Lawrence will remain as BTA Honorary President.

Mike says ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed the past four years as Director of BTA during which much has been achieved. I take this opportunity to thank all those that have supported me, the BTA members and sponsors, the BTA Management Committee, and the media for their loyal support throughout this period. BTA continues to succeed, despite the current severe financial trading conditions, because of the relationships it has all of its stakeholders. I know that Raymond will continue this tradition’.
